Complementary Fitness News + updates 16 March

After last week’s great feedback, I asked you for some more and am grateful to share the following comments with you about our Friday morning class:

“Attending the class has made a huge difference to my flexibility and strength.  I sleep better and have fewer aches and pains.  Susan is always bouncing with enthusiasm and encouragement.  I feel great as I walk out the door at 10.30.  Sometimes life gets in the way but I try to go if I can…… it’s great fun and so good for ...

A reminder that there is no class on Thursday this week because we’ll be at my brother-in-law’s funeral (Norman’s brother) but if you can, please come to another class this week instead if you can, thanks.

I know that a lot of you have been asking so here’s the big news for us: our daughter gave birth to baby Theo on Thursday last week and he weighed in at 9lb 9oz and both well.  We babysat and had Layla our granddaughter for a sleepover on Thursday – if ...

Complementary Fitness 24 Feb News

As you know, life is about balance with ups and downs, light and shade, good times and bad times.  We’ve eagerly anticipating the birth of our second grandchild this week which is very exciting for us.

Last Wednesday though, we visited my brother-in-law who was became extremely ill over the course of a couple of days (even though he’d been living with cancer) but unfortunately, passed away that afternoon.  We’ve all been devastated with the sad news.  I mentioned in class on Friday morning that I’d let ...

Complementary Fitness 17 Feb news

There is some research, as well as anecdotal evidence, to suggest that exercise can help anxiety.  We know that exercise helps to produce chemicals called endorphins which have a positive effect on mood and stress levels which, in turn, can help calm anxiety.

The effect of exercise on anxiety will vary from person to person however and will depend on how severe anxiety is in the first place.

Exercise is still recommended though to gain benefits which will hopefully be felt while exercising in a community class.  It’s also important ...

Schools are on holiday this week and our classes are ON too so come and work out with us in as many cases as you can.

Exercise is good for us in many ways including heart health, our mood, great for our joints, muscles and balancing our hormones.  Exercise can help us keep in shape and we can sweat out toxins so keep active and keep moving.

I was given an interesting article in The Times last month (thanks Diana – Wed class) by a celebrity fitness trainer ...

Wow, into the 2nd month of the year already!

Most schools should be finishing up on Friday for a week but … just to let you know that all of our classes are still ON in the holidays so looking forward to seeing you if you can make it.

Here are a couple of hacks to keep you motivated to exercise and come to classes:

  • Sometimes we think ‘oh I’m too tired’ or ‘its too cold/dark to go out and exercise’ but these are just thoughts and doesn’t mean ...

Complementary Fitness 27 Jan news

I read a recent fitness article in Dr Mercola’s website about the benefits of yoga on brain health saying that “yoga — which is suitable for most people, regardless of age or fitness level — has been shown to support healthy brain function and stave off neurological decline.

Through modern imaging technology, researchers have been able to objectively confirm that yoga impacts the brain in beneficial ways that translate into improved attention, mental processing speed, executive function and emotional regulation.

Regular yoga practice has also been shown to ...

Complementary Fitness 20 Jan news + updates

Oh I’m soooo glad we’re back in Craiglockhart church hall again this week.  Phew!  You’ll know that if you were at our class last week in Waterside SC, then by the time the slimmers and the last of the leaders eventually left, it was 8.05/8/15pm!  It was a joke (not very funny though).  We did actually start our class while one of the slimmers was still being weighed (around 7.45pm when the class was supposed to finish at 7.30pm)  and I’m sure that they weren’t very ...

Complementary Fitness 13 Jan newsletter

You’ll see on the Classes page of my website that on Tuesday 14 Jan, our 7.30pm Fitness Pilates class is in Waterside Social Club, 26 Inglis Green Road.

Waterside Social Club is on the left side where the entrance to Sainsbury’s car park is.

If driving, park in Sainsbury’s car park for the hour.

It was the only venue at the time that was available and I’m sure it’ll be fine.

If you’re not sure exactly where it is though, there’s a website which shows the ...
