Did you know that…
I’ve added a new Complementary Fitness Youtube mini exercise video on my Youtube account at https://youtu.be/C3lzJQ-gqW4. We did this reclined, ½ seated exercise in some classes last week and it really works to strengthen and tone your legs, core abdominal and back muscles and shoulders too.
There are options to make the exercise easier too: by sitting right down on your heels or being upright either still on knees or standing.
To make the exercise more challenging, hover your fingers off the floor and pulling your abs in, then lift alternative arms up in front as high as you can.
Aim for say 6 or 8 reps (where 1 rep would be lifting right arm then left – repeat).
Let me know how you get on, how your abs, back, legs and arms are.

Oh you’ll probably have noticed that I’m growing my hair and that it’s not as short or tidy as usual.
I’ve had it short for years and for classes, was easy kept, quick to dry, not too much fuss etc but I thought… time for a change. It’s been in that ‘in-between’ stage for a good 3 months now, probably since November.
Although I have been tempted to get it cut short again, I’m still persevering.
I’ve got an appointment at a hair salon on Thursday to get it cut into some sort of style but still with a view to growing it. It’s been different lengths and really untidy for ages now– aggh!!
I’m not sure what ‘proper style’ to go for, possibly a Bob? I’ve been looking on Pinterest for suggested styles.
I love Pinterest – it’s where you create your own Boards and Pin photos, videos, quotes, recipes etc to the boards that you create. Your Boards could be called: ‘Fitness, Food, Cocktails, Cakes, Hairstyles, Homes etc. There are so many topics. It’s also so easy to create an account, log on and you can check out www.pinterest.com/SusanCockburn for ideas.
So I’ll be ‘sporting’ my new tidier haircut on Thurs in our 6.35pm Fitness Yoga and 7.30pm Fitness Pilates classes.
I also wondered what transition period are you going through (if any) at the moment – let me know.
Balance and stretch

Something to think about:
Good nutrition is the foundation of good health and the food choices we make every day impact our body and mind. With more and more highly processed foods in our diets, our bodies don’t receive the nutrients they need to sustain good health.
With a rising number of diseases being linked to diet choices, it’s great to consider what we’re putting in your body. There’s so much info online and in books about good nutrition and healthy lifestyles to look into.

There’s a Coffee Morning this Saturday 27 Feb 10am-noon with cake, coffee & tea, games, CDs, toys, raffle, books and more and all in aid of 107th Pentland Scout Group. Adults £2.

We went a walk along Portobello prom at the weekend and ended up buying some bread from Breadshare Community Bakery. We’ve been before and had soup at lunchtime but we’ve bought their nutritious bread which is ‘real bread’ made with natural ingredients. We particularly love their sourdough breads and also rye with coriander or caraway – delicious. The café/bakery is at 11-12 Seafield Rd, Portobello, EH15 1EB and is definitely worth a visit.
