Health & Lifestyle
Include raw spinach (organic if possible) in your diet – here’s why..
100g of spinach contains roughly 25% of your recommended daily intake of iron.
Just 1 small glass of orange juice drunk with your spinach serving can boost your iron intake, warding off anaemia, fatigue and infection.
There are only 23 calories in 100g of raw spinach. It’s an excellent source of vitamin K.
Researchers at the University of Manchester believe that eating spinach may protect your eyes from conditions such as age related macular degeneration. Eye eye Popeye!!
Highs and lows of blood pressure:
Are you concerned about blood pressure? It’s not just high readings to look for. It was thought consistent high blood pressure puts you at greatest risk of stroke but new findings from the Oxford Stroke Prevention Research Unit revealed erratic surges could also be a sign.
Lifestyle changes can help reduce high blood pressure including increasing physical activity and eating a balanced diet.
Physical activity and a nutritious balanced diet is for everyone though.
Brew a cup of chamomile tea when you feel a headache coming on: it has compounds which ease pain.
As part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, eating 25% of soya a day may reduce the risk of heart disease, reduce blood pressure and lower cholesterol.
