Did you know that…
the dates of our current classes, when they’re on till and when they start up again are above.
Also, because of the EU Referendum this Thursday 23 June, our 6.35pm Fitness Yoga and our 7.30pm Fitness Pilates class will be in The Dell Room, Colinton Parish Church (not Dreghorn Loan Hall.

I hope to see you in all our classes this week and also in next week’s Tues 7.30pm class (28/6) and Wed 9.10am class (29/6).

Our Fitness Summer Lunch is this Friday 23/6 at 12.30pm in Las Iguanas, 141 George Street, Edin, EH2 4JY.
Here’s the website, and you can click on Menus and have a look.

You’ll note that the table is booked for 12.30pm – there are a couple of people who are coming and need to get back for school coming out but we’ll make it no problem. We still have a class on Friday at 9.30am but it still gives us plenty of time to get home, shower, change and get the bus into town. There are 12 of us going so far – let me know if you’d like to join us and I’ll add you to the numbers. I’m really looking forward to going and to seeing you and celebrating our fitness achievements so far this year.

I used my NutriBullet to make this recipe for a Banana Coffee Frappe and thought you’d like to try it.
You don’t have to have a NutriBullet, just use a blender and enjoy instead of a regular coffee.
Blend 1 frozen banana, sliced and slightly thawed, ½ cup brewed coffee, chilled for 1-2 hrs, 1 cup milk – almond/hemp/dairy and ½ tsp vanilla extract.

You can find lots of blender recipes (smoothies, dressings for salads as well as salad ideas etc) if you log in to nutriliving.com/recipes

5 Benefits of doing the Plank exercise for core strengthening:
The full article is on Dr Mercola’s website but here’s the shortened version
toning your abdominal muscles, reduced back pain, flexibility, improving your mood and improving your balance and posture.
As you know, there are variations and options of ‘The Plank’. You can be on knees (where your hips are forward of your hips) and you can be on forearms and hands – or both. You can opt for a full plank on hands (or knuckles to save wrists) with wrists directly below shoulders and with a ‘straight’ back (keeping the natural curves) and legs, and toes.
There are also options to be in a supine plank (front of the body up to the ceiling and of course, side planks too where you lift your body up off the floor and you’re supported on one hand (or forearm) and knees either bent or legs extended – in one long line and hips lifted.
See the photo and give it a try – oh, remember to change sides if you’re doing a side plank! and try out all the Plank options and variations in our class/es too.

Something to think about:
Quotes that I like (from their educate inspire FB page)
· “Maturity comes when you stop making excuses and start making changes”
· “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can” – Arthur Ashe
· “In the end, people will judge you anyway, so don’t live your life impressing others – live your life impressing yourself”
· “You’re always just one decision away from a totally different life”
