Did you know?
Millet is a non-glutenous grain & is the most alkalizing of all grains. It contains 15% protein as well, so an excellent choice over wheat.

Health + Lifestyle
Good cleansing juice for the liver: Carrot, beetroot, apple, parsley.

The body needs vitamins, minerals and a healthy balance of proteins and carbs to rebuild cells and function properly.

For a warming cuppa that packs an immune punch, try an exquisite Elderberry Herbal Chai: Bring 3 cups of water to a boil, add a star anise, 3 or 4 cloves and cardamom pods, with a couple slices of fresh ginger, lemon and stick of cinnamon. Simmer for 5-10 minutes. Strain, stir in a teaspoon of Organic Elderberry Syrup into each cup (from Neal’s Yard Remedies NYR) Fiona Morris, Medical Herbalist NYR, Hanover Street.

Something to think about
“Compassion and peace of mind bring a sense of confidence that reduce stress and anxiety”– Dalai Lama

Quote: “Unless you puke, faint or die, keep going” Jillian Michaels

Proper nutrition is the fuel needed for vibrant health
Destructive emotions are toxic to the body. Don’t hold on to anger, fear, grief or bitterness – choose to forgive and simply let go!

What are your goals, aims and aspirations fitness and health-wise for this Autumn term? Do you feel that the classes are helping to achieve your goals? I’d love to know the answers to both questions, so email me or tell me in class, thanks.

What’s On
1) Stockfest is a big community celebration rather than a music festival come mud bath. For a whole week the people of Stockbridge will be laying on art exhibitions, theatre productions, dance events, pub quizzes and even a dog show. Scottish Tourist Guide Colin Imrie is leading a two-hour walking tour of Raeburn’s Stockbridge on 22 September. Let him paint a picture of how the area influenced celebrated artist Sir Henry Raeburn, one of Stockbridge’s favourite sons.
If you’d love to go along and see what’s happening, where do you need to go?
Weather permitting, the main marquee will be set up in Edinburgh Academy rugby ground but there will be things happening across the area. It will culminate with the 2nd Septemberfest at Broughton High School on 22 September.
Stockfest runs from 15 to 22 September. For more info, visit www.facebook.com/Stockfest

2) Edinburgh Doors Open Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 Sept – 121 venues across Edinburgh. Pick up a leaflet at a library or check out the programme and latest news on venues at www.cockburnassociation.org.uk There’s also a Talk Series 2012 between 18 and 21 September.
