HEALTH and LIFESTYLE

Something to think about
Health and fitness are important and I love to make fitness a positive and enjoyable part of your life and road to wellness, health and vitality.

Short, medium and long term fitness – keep focusing on short term fitness goals and accomplishments to help you achieve your medium and long term goals.

No instant fixes: As you know, there’s nothing instant about fitness, it doesn’t happen over night, it takes time and commitment.
Health and well-being are a process of trying your best every day, making small increments and not beating yourself up if you don’t get it 100% right (if that is indeed possible). Slip ups are bound to happen – after all, we’re only human!
Just get back on track when they happen and don’t give up.

Congratulate yourself on your successes no matter how big/small they are.
Be kind to yourself and keep things in perspective and try to be as positive as you can.

If you’re a fast and furious eater, it’s time to change gears. That’s because the slower you eat, the faster you metabolise (psychologyofeating.com)

The only bad workout is the one that you didn’t do.

Did you know?
that flexibility can improve as we get older – it’s normal to experience some muscle stiffness as we get older but regular stretching can help to maintain, and even improve flexibility and mobility. Being flexible increases your range of movement too. You’ll see improvements if you regularly come and join us in our Friday Fitness Yoga Stretch classes at 9.30am.

that maintaining good posture all or most of the time – so being conscious of it – helps to prevent unnecessary strain on your back. Think tall, shoulders back and down, abs braced.

that Pomegranate is an ancient Persian fruit – round, red and crowned, said to ‘grow in the gardens of Paradise’. I have as many as 1,400 seeds surrounded by sweet, garnet pulp, rich in vitamin C. My juice is thought to help lower blood pressure and cholesterol (realfoods.co.uk).
I squeeze pomegranate juice and seeds over my porridge in the morning – lovely.

“Thank You Very Much” to the kind people who have donated their trainers and we’re collecting more unwanted, old or unused women’s trainers and passing them along to HMP Edinburgh so that female prisoners who don’t have much, can get the use of them. If you have any and are willing to donate your trainers, please pass them on to me and I’ll make sure they get there, thanks very much.

Just for a laugh: a new study has found that women with big bums live longer than men who mention it!

Please update me: on how you’re getting on with your fitness, strength and flexibility, health and if you enjoy the classes.
Remember to subscribe to our weekly Fitness Newsletters too thanks.
Please pass on details of our classes, my website, newsletter and encourage friends and colleagues to join us, thanks.
