A list of our current classes (till Fri 27 June) is on the Classes Page and see Summer class details below.

HEALTH and LIFESTYLE

Summer class dates for your diary:
Wed & Fri 9.30am and Tuesdays + Thurs 7.30pm from 15 July – 22 Aug.
Classes in Dreghorn Loan Hall are Wed & Fri 9.30am and Thursdays 7.30pm as well as Tuesday 7.30pm class in Craiglockhart Church*.

*Just to let you know: I was at a Hall Users Meeting, Craiglockhart Church on 11/6 and they said that there may be a week in July or August where the hall will be painted. I didn’t think it would affect us as we’re in at 7.30pm but the painter may leave paint and scaffolding up and if that’s the case, we won’t be able to use the hall on that one Tuesday. The painter has still to confirm dates with the church and when finalised, I’ll find out and will let you know so I’ll keep you updated when I find out more.

Something to think about
If you’re searching for that one person that will change your life, take a look in the mirror.

Start where you are. Use what you can. Do what you can. – Arthur Ashe

Patience and Persistance are vital qualities in the ultimate successful accomplishment of any worthwhile endeavour – Joseph Pilates

When ever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you’ve come.

Take care of your body, it’s the only place you have to live in. Stay focussed and do more Pilates and/or Yoga.
Happiness is not something ready made, it comes from your own ACTIONS – Dalai Lama

Did you know?
that in celebration of the longest day, the Royal Botanical Gardens will be open till 10.30pm on Saturday 21 June for Midsummer celebrations. From 6pm onwards, there will be stilt, harp, poetry and aerial performances as well as a 1 minute tree hugging world record attempt at 8pm. It’s a free event, no booking required and you can find out more at

that you can make these easy Magic 5 Snack Bites (makes 16). Here’s how:
1 cup raw organic almonds*, 1 cup fresh dates pitted, 2 tbsp cacao powder, 2 tbsp shredded coconut, a dash of sea salt.
(* if it was me, I’d soak the almonds overnight in water, next morning, drain and rinse them – it releases enzyme inhibitors making the almonds easier to digest but you don’t have to) –

Process the almonds, cacao and coconut in a food processor till it’s flour-like.
Add remaining ingredients and blend until incorporated into dry mixture.
Put mixture in a bowl and take a tablespoonful of mixture and roll into a ball.
Repeat the process till all the mixture is used. Store in a sealed container for up to 5 days.

That here’s another recipe that’s healthy and so easy to make (I’ve tried it and …. Yum. I may also have given you this recipe before but if so, it’s still good) It’s Cacao Nib Pudding:
Ingredients: 1 avocado, 1 banana, ¼ cup of almond milk, 3 tbsp cacao powder, 3 tbsp manuka honey, a pinch of organic vanilla bean powder, 1 small handful of cacao nibs for sprinkling.

How to make: put all the ingredients in a blender/food processor and blend. Transfer into small bowls. Sprinkle over some cacao nibs and you could also add some organic blueberries or rasps too.

How about …… making either of the above 2 recipes, take a photo and send me and we could share it (the photo but if you’d like…. the treats too, ha ha). You can get all the ingredients in Real Foods too or buy online at www.realfoods.co.uk

Our Summer Fitness Lunch – where and when (Monday 23 or Fri 27 June?).
The majority have said they can make Fri 27 June so we’ll probably go with that but we’ll finalise it this week. I’m also thinking Café Andaluz, George Street might be a good choice too – let me know if you’d like to go there. Plenty of choice for everyone, very central, good for everyone incl veggies & vegans so let me know if you’d like to join us as I need to book up soon as poss.
