HEALTH and LIFESTYLE
Did you know that…
it was lovely to welcome some new people and some returning people to our classes last week and I hope that they’ll continue to work out with us week by week and become ‘regulars’. I love the mix of all our lovely people who join us, work out with us, commit and continue to improve their fitness, strength, balance, flexibility and also that we can have fun too. So please encourage friends, colleagues, neighbours etc to join us and stay part of our Complementary Fitness Team – thank you.
no two classes are the same. We do some of the same exercises but continue to update them, add some tweeks, variations and like to add some ‘new’ exercises and sequences in to our workouts and classes too.
I hope that you like the variety and challenges too. Remember that you don’t have to keep up with anyone else.
Do what’s right for you. Keep taking the modifications when you need to. Work out at your own pace.
We do usually ‘work to the beat’ but don’t have to – take your time. With practice and experience and when we improve our fitness, strength, flexibility etc, then we can ‘up our game’, do more, feel that we’re getting stronger etc. A lot of people tell me that Fitness Pilates/or Yoga really helps their backs and that if they miss classes for a while, that they start to feel aches and pains in their back again and that when they join us again, they feel that they’re improving, coping and feeling better. Let me know your thoughts about classes, your fitness, your back…. etc
this month, it’s Organic September. Organic means higher levels of animal welfare, lower levels of pesticides, no manufactured herbicides or artificial fertilisers and more environmentally sustainable management of the land and natural environment – which means more wildlife! If you visit soilassociation.org/organic-living/organicseptember/
you’ll read 5 reasons to go Organic, find out about Organic Beauty Week and more.
you can boost your immunity with some exercise. According to the British Journal of Sports Medicine, keeping active can result in fewer and milder colds. People who were active on 5 or more days a week reported having fewer colds and half the number of symptoms compared to those who exercised once or twice a week or less. When you exercise, the number of immune cells in your bloodstream increases, even for a while. Although levels fall back within a few hours, each bout of exercise helps enhance the immune system’s fighting power.
studies show that the more stressed you are, the more likely you are to catch a cold so getting quality sleep and making time for relaxation is key. I love using the headspace.com website and if you sign up, you’ll get 10 days of 10 min meditations (use headphones) which will really help you relax more.
Something to think about:
Start now. Start where you are. Start with trepidation, aches or pain. Start with doubt or apprehension. Start as you are, right this minute. Just Start. Start and don’t stop.
12 Things To Remember:
The past cannot be changed. Opinions don’t define your reality. Everyone’s journey is different.
Things always get better with time. Judgements are a confession of character. Over-thinking will lead to sadness. Happiness is found within. Positive thoughts create positive things. Smiles are contagious. Kindness is free. You only fail if you quit. What goes around, comes around. – FB/DavidAvocadoWolfe
