HEALTH and LIFESTYLE

Interesting/Did you know that…
21 Sept is World Alzheimer’s Day and it’s a day on which Alzheimer’s organizations around the world concentrate their efforts on raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, a group of disorders that impairs mental functioning. On Alzheimer’s Society website, it says “Of all the lifestyle changes that have been studied, taking regular physical exercise appears to be one of the best things that you can do to reduce your risk of getting dementia. Several studies looking at the effect of aerobic exercise (exercise that increases your heart rate) in middle-aged or older adults have reported improvements in thinking and memory, and reduced rates of dementia”. You can read more about exercise and preventing Alzheimer’s Disease/dementia at
alzheimers.org.uk/info/20010/risk_factors_and_prevention/136/physical_exercise

dehydration can be a cause of muscle cramps so keep yourself hydrated during the day, before, during and after exercise. If you do suffer with muscle/leg cramps, it may also help to relax in a bath with magnesium/Epsom salts. The salts and the bath can help to relax your muscles as well as your body and mind.

I thought I’d pass on this great advice: ‘get sleep, eat clean, drink water, exercise, repeat’

we had some great comments about our classes last week and great to know that you loved the new music mixes, slow and relaxing yoga tempo, exercise sequences and it’s great to see you progress, become more flexible, adapt and do more.

exercise can help you control your weight, combat health conditions, improve your mood, boost your energy, improve muscle strength and endurance and help you to relax and sleep so come and join us this week and hopefully see these benefits for yourself.

I made some quinoa, cinnamon & sultana muffins, cut a couple of them in half, toasted them and had them for breakfast along with some dairy free coconut yoghurt and blueberries and they were delicious and filling.

Who said you can’t have healthy muffins for breakfast or a snack? Quinoa is full of protein too.

Quotes:
If you keep going, you’ll see results. If you stop, you won’t.

Exercise not only changes your body, it changes your mind, your attitude and your mood.

‘love yourself enough to surround yourself with people who respect you. The company you keep is a reflection of how you feel about yourself’

I also love this Tibetan proverb: ‘The secret to living well and longer is: eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure’.

I look forward to seeing you and working out and exercising with you this week.
See you soon
