Complementary Fitness 5 March News

Hi, I hope that you’ll join us this week in our all level Fitness Pilates, Fitness Yoga & resistance/weights classes in Craiglockhart & Colinton, Edinburgh to help you improve your fitness, strength, stamina, core, posture and flexibility

HEALTH and LIFESTYLE

Did you know that
this Thursday 8 March, our 7pm Fitness Pilates/Yoga class is in the Dell Room, Colinton Parish Church, Dell Road. The change of venue is because the church have asked to use the hall to accommodate a large group that evening. So I hope you’ll join us in the Dell Room. We’ll be back in the Loan Hall next week.

Again, I apologise for having to cancel classes last Thursday and Friday because of the awful weather conditions.

I hate having to cancel but it just wasn’t worth taking the risk for me but especially you in attempting to drive or walk to the Loan Hall in the snowy blizzard red weather warning conditions. I hope that you all got my emails and messages re the cancellations.

magnesium is responsible for over 300 biochemical reactions that contribute to healthy metabolic and immune functioning. Magnesium is critical for healthy bone development and its deficiency has been linked to osteoporosis, high blood pressure, and even heart disease. I’ve read that some of the causes of magnesium deficiency can be low dietary intake coupled with over-farmed soil full of pesticides, lack of sleep, constant stress, too much alcohol, caffeine and sugar consumption. When we’re low in magnesium, we may experience more frequent muscle spasms or cramping which is not what we need when exercising, stretching or trying to sleep. As I’ve said before, I love using a couple of handfuls of magnesium flakes in a warm bath to relax me as well as tired muscles and this helps to absorb some magnesium. I also like using Better You magnesium oil spray (H&B have buy one, get one ½ price at the mo)

Something to think about:
“rest is best and harmony heals” quote from Sandy Newbigging, Calm Cure course

Organic beetroot deserve a place in your diet for 7 important reasons:
1. They can boost your athletic performance, stamina, and endurance
2. They help promote a healthy normal inflammatory response
3. They help promote healthy blood flow throughout your body and brain
4. They support your body’s natural detoxification processes
5. They support immune and cellular health
6. They promote brain neuroplasticity, or the ability to form new neural pathways, especially when consumed before exercise
7. They’re high in valuable nutrients: vitamin C, folate, potassium and manganese

You’ll be able to find out more about beetroots, why they’re good for you and good for you when exercising at:

I’ve mentioned before this website for smoothie and other healthy recipes and thought I’d share it again.
You’ll also find recipes that include beetroot in there too if you want to try and not all the recipes are for smoothies – there are bowl recipes, mains, desserts, cookies, breakfast recipes etc – enjoy www.nutriliving.com/recipes

“Sleep is arguably the most underrated of all brain health strategies. The amount of sleep we get impacts memory, learning ability, reaction time, retention of information, mood, energy level and more. So if we want to help the brain, get more sleep” Marc David, IPE

A loser is just a winner who tried one more time.
