Yay all of our classes are back and ON this week apart and I can’t wait to see you all this week and catch up and get our fitness ‘up and running’ again.
Reminder that because of the European Parliamentary Election this Thursday 23 May, Dreghorn Loan hall is being used as a polling station so instead, we’ll use The Dell Room, Colinton Parish Church for our 7pm class and look forward to seeing you there.
Oh we’ve had a request for some floor/mat-work and a bit of circuit training in our Wednesday 9.30am class so please bring your mat with you. We’ll do short sessions of circuits and 5 mins or so of mat-work.
Our Tuesday 7.30pm Fitness Pilates classes this week & next (21 + 28 May) are still in Craiglockhart Parish church large hall but another reminder that because we can’t use the hall at all in June, our 7.30pm Fitness Pilates classes 4, 11, 18 & 25 June are ‘fresh air fitness Pilates classes’ in Patties Road Recreation Grounds and I hope that you’ll put a reminder in your diary/phone/calendar etc and join us then/there. You’re all welcome to join us outdoors on the above dates where we’ll still move/exercise and also stretch and relax.
Well, we had an amazing week last week in Club La Santa, Lanzarote (clublasanta.co.uk). The weather was a bit overcast in the mornings but cleared and when the sun was out, it was hot. I/we had the best time trying out lots of classes, activities and loved every minute of the holiday experience. I took part in 20 classes and loved them soooo much that I did the following classes twice: ballroom fitness, fitness trampolining, Body Balance, Stretch & Relax and Body Combat. I also loved Zumba and Dance (which was a built-up sequence to a fab and fun show dance from Glee. I also got the chance to do classes which involved bars and plates (round weights) that you put on the end of your bar and fix with grips – I loved it all. We also enjoyed meals in the resort restaurants (some casual and 1 more fine dining) and lunches, smoothies and apple or banana cake at a bike stop café which we either walked or cycled to. We really enjoyed veg paella (the best we’ve ever eaten) outdoors in a restaurant in La Santa itself (which is a fishing village really about 20/25 mins walk from Club La Santa) and a really amazing fine dining dinner in another restaurant there too.
We were really lucky because our son Steven joined us for a few days and it was great to catch up with him and go for cycles round the island, go out for dinner and join him in a few events and classes. We’d thoroughly recommend Club La Santa, it’s very family-orientated with lots to do for all ages. Families can also hire running buggies and anyone can hire road, city or mountain bikes too and there are Olympic pools to swim and train in as well as other pools, tennis courts, tracks etc etc – I could go on but there’s everything there. That was our second time and we’ve already booked to go back.
I love the Food Matters website and there are loads and loads of interesting articles and recipes etc on there to look through. I liked this one about bananas and thought you might be interested in some facts and reasons to eat them and add them to your diet.
but one of the reasons is to protect against muscle cramps during workouts and night time leg cramps by eating a banana – well, I don’t think it’s saying ‘eat a banana during a wortkout’ as such but probably best to eat it any other time during the day! ha
