HEALTH and LIFESTYLE
Did you know that

I love reading blogs and books about healthy lifestyles and recipes and through Amazon, I found out about a blogger who’s a nutritionist and has written books and I thought I’d share her website if you want to find out more or make some of her recipes:

Wow, last week for me was full of learning about ‘new technology’. What happened was, on Tuesday evening, just as I was about to start our 7.30pm class, my ipod player decided that it wasn’t working any more. We tried a couple of other sockets and the player didn’t work in them either so I decided to teach the class without music !!! Well, we got through the class, still worked hard and some people said that they liked the fact that they could hear me clearly and that we kind-of went ‘back to basics’ with more teaching, instruction and explanation.
Some said that they had to really concentrate and think about what they were doing and on focus, muscle contraction, flexibility and breathing. We also had some ‘new people’ in our class last Tuesday too so they could hear and see without any distraction.
So …. on the Wednesday 9.30am class (no time to run out and get a new speaker between Tue evening & Wed am!),
I used my old CD machine and the cd that I chose to use sounded a bit ‘tinny’ ie not great quality, and it was all going well until the very last track which decided to jump!!! Oh my goodness, technology, machines etc – sometimes these things are ‘sent to try me’ but that was ok and ‘the show must go on’ as they say!

I’ve been thinking for a long time about updating my old iphone that I bought years ago (it was an iphone 5C which tells you how old it was). I was getting really frustrated that the storage on my phone was hopeless and I kept having to delete photos etc which isn’t great when you have an 8 month old granddaughter and want to take photos and videos of her. I also had very few Apps on it too coz of the lack of storage. Anyway, I decided to pay a visit to Apple during the week and couldn’t decide on the 8, 8+ or go for it with the new X. I’m hopeless at making a decision and with the thought of spending all that money, didn’t want to make a mistake in getting ‘the wrong one’. I decided to ‘go for it’ and haven’t regretted it and absolutely love my new phone. I even updated and upgraded my mobile provider with a much better deal with more gb data monthly for hardly any difference in price. You know when you’ve been thinking of updating for a while, putting it off and then sometimes circumstances kind of force you to taking the leap and ‘going for it’? So I’ve even been to 4 workshops at the Apple store, learning about different features etc and I’ll book onto more next week too.
They say you’re never too old to learn and I’m proving it (I think??? ha ha).
My next step in this new technology was to buy a new (I have had a couple of small ones in the past, honest) Bluetooth speaker which I’m really chuffed with too so I’m using my music mixes on my phone now and the new speaker for classes now – woo hoo, way to go.

I must’ve been ‘on a roll’ coz I then bought a Bluetooth mobile charger (Maplin have them and even though they’ll be closing down some time, they’re cheaper in there and I know that the Apple Bluetooth charger will be double the price when it’s out). It’ll be handy when out and about as I can put the charger in my bag, it’ll be great for charging in the car etc too.

Oh and we then looked into the Phillips Hue range of lights and ‘bridge’ where you can turn on or off different lights in rooms in the house when you’re out – from the App on my new phone!! Wow, no excuse now for staying behind the times, in the dark (ha, literally with the new house lights app!!). I can’t believe that I’ve resisted change for so long but am glad to be moving forward.

So, why am I telling you all this? I just wondered if you’ve taken the plunge, done anything ‘scary’, learned about new technology or a new language, started a new course, started new classes and if so, how are you getting on?
How’s it going and how are you feeling about it all?
Are you pleased and proud of yourself? You should be.
Sometimes taking ourselves out of our comfort zones can be scary but well worth it all the effort too.

Something to think about:
Focus on the weights you lift, not on the weight you lose.

When your body is hungry, it wants nutrients, not calories.

Remember: success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally, it comes from what you do consistently – see you in class/es this week then?

I look forward to seeing you and working out with you this week so that we can continue to improve on our fitness levels, strength, posture balance and flexibility together.
