Complementary Fitness Mindfulness

Affirmations: Positive affirmations are statements you repeat that affect the subconscious mind, helping it act to attract success and improve your life and focus on positive outcomes. We’ll be affirmations in our new Tuesday & Wednesday evening Lifestyle classes but here’s an affirmation for you to repeat to yourself at least 3 times a day:
“I am surrounded by love, support and inspiration”. Let me know how you feel after saying this to yourself a few times a day/every day.

Health + Lifestyle
Chia seeds contain 24% protein, are packed with fibre and contain all the essential amino acids your body needs making them a complete protein source. Sprinkle them on your cereal or add them to shakes and smoothies.

If you’re peckish, eat almond nut butter on oatcakes. The oatcakes are low GI. Spread with a small amount of almond nut butter and you’ll get a high energy, low fat snack that’s quick and easy.

Not getting a good 8 hours sleep a night can increase your BMI suggests a study published in the journal Sleep.

Waist to height ratio (WHtR) is claimed to be a better measure of health than BMI or waist to hip ratio. Keep your waist less than 50% of your height for a healthy body.

Healthy new habit: make one new raw food meal – experiment with new foods you’ve never tried before and share with friends and family. Try: 1 peeled orange, handful soaked goji berries, cacao powder, maca powder, cacao butter & coconut oil, blend for a yummy raw dessert

Natural anti-oxidants can help boost your immunity! Why not invest in prevention? Try acai powder, goji berries, wheatgrass & greens!

Push away unhealthy food – physically pushing something away makes you like it less and pulling it towards you makes you feel more positively towards it. Next time you’re confronted with unhealthy, sugary or fatty snacks, push away the plate and feel the temptation fade.

If you find it hard to get your 5-a-day, dig out your juicer or invest in one and drink your greens. Juicing can be good for cleansing, detoxifying, alkalising, weight loss and increasing your antioxidants, vitamins and mineral levels. Did you try the 3 juice recipes in last week’s newsletter? More about juicing in our Wellness & Vitality Boutique classes but here’s another recipe for you to try: juice 1 cucumber, 2 apples, 1 lemon, 2 handfuls of kale, 1 small handful of flatleaf parsley. Once juiced, you can also add a teaspoon of Greens powder (eg Udo’s Choice Beyond Greens) to up your nutrients even more.
