HEALTH and LIFESTYLE
Did you know that…
8 March is International Women’s Day. Which women inspire you and why?
There are many confident, respected, successful women actors, politicians, writers etc but you don’t have to be a famous woman to be celebrated on this day.
I’m celebrating YOU for your great qualities, commitment and achievements.
By the way, I hope that you had a relaxing Mother’s Day yesterday too.
6-13 March is Sleep Awareness Week to raise awareness for the health benefits of sleep and its importance to safety and productivity. Find out more at
https://sleepfoundation.org/SAW or on Twitter, use the hashtag #7Days4BetterSleep.
Almonds contain more calcium than any other nut which is great for keeping your bones strong.
Sunflower and pumpkin seeds are packed with magnesium, protein, B vitamins and zinc and are great to snack on.
Something to think about:
Bryce (Fitness Pilates Tue/Thurs class) went to Lidl on Thursday and bought a couple of extra gardening kneeling pads – one in black and the other in pink and they’re £1.99 each if anyone wants to buy them from him on Tuesday in our Craiglockhart Fitness Pilates class. The pads do make a difference, giving a bit more cushioning under knees and head. They also have these pads in green if you want to buy them for the class and/or gardening for yourself. Be quick though.
In advance of the new National Clear Your Clutter day on 19 March, I’ve had a clear-out and donated some clothing to M&S in their Shwop bin (in the Services Department, Gyle or town) and if you have a Sparks card, you get 50 extra points onto your card. If you’re de-cluttering and having a clear out, you can sell, donate, upcycle and recycle your unwanted items. For details on how to do this and more info, including a video, visit http://www.moneymagpie.com/clear-your-clutter-day or on Twitter: @Clearclutterday and Facebook: nationalclearyourclutterday
Ovarian Cancer Awareness month is in March.
