Let’s get our fitness ‘back on track’ this week after our 3 week break. It seems ages since we last worked out together. I’ve loved the break, really enjoyed Christmas, the festivities, being with family and friends and enjoying lovely times, great meals and get-togethers, ‘the sales’ (well, you know me, … I love a bargain and good clothes, shoes, boots etc – evidence below*). I’m all set with new ideas, exercise sequences, new music mixes and am sooo looking forward to teaching fitness again and seeing you in class this week/soon. I haven’t done much (if anything) fitness-wise and I’m sure that my muscles (especially legs) will let me know all about it this Wednesday and especially Thursday!!!
Are you the same when you haven’t exercised in a while – either because of holiday, work or family commitments etc, and you come back to class, work out with us and boom…. 2 days later you’re really feeling your leg muscles and possibly abs are a bit (or a lot) sore! You might feel it in your abs if you cough or feel your leg muscles ache if you walk up or downstairs!! As you know, you don’t feel like that after every class (just as well), it’s just your muscles getting used to exercising again, to the squats, lunges, ab contractions etc. You’ll soon get used to it, your muscles will become stronger and more toned. In order to ‘help’ in the first week back though, after your class, go home and run in a warm bath, put a handful of magnesium flakes in the bath and relax while you soak. (You can buy a bag of magnesium flakes from Holland & Barrett or Real Foods or from Amazon online).

Come and join us in our New Year, New You classes starting back this week. I can’t wait to see you, catch up, wish you a very happy New Year and work out with you.

Some of you went out for our usual fitness lunch in December but some of us couldn’t make it because of other commitments. Some of you said that you’d like to go out for lunch in January instead – when it’s quieter, all the pre-Christmas excitement has passed and it would give us something to look forward to. So, let’s think about when and where. A Monday is good for me or a Friday lunchtime. Off the top of my head, how about Friday 30 Jan (end of the month, pay day for some etc)? Some restaurants have ‘special January deals’ ie 2 mains for £10 (eg Ricks, Hanover St/Montpeliers, Bruntsfield/Indigo Yard or Tigerlily in George St). Howies (we went to Waterloo Place Howies a couple of years ago) also have 2 courses for £10 if you fancy going back there?

Just to let you know that
Nicola’s Insanity class starts back this Thursday 6.30pm in Dreghorn Loan Hall. It’s a high intensity interval training class and it’s on for 45 minutes. Bring a mat and some water and prepare to work as hard as you can (you don’t have to keep up with anyone else and there are alternatives which Nicola demonstrates too). The class is only £4 and it’ll really fire up your metabolism and get you in shape, fitter and stronger.

I’ll be covering Nicola’s class this Saturday in the Meadows 9.15am. Let me/Nicola know if you’d like to join us. Meet us at Stay Central Hotel, Cowgate at 8.55/9am or Peter’s Yard, Meadows at 9.10am. Everyone (16+ and non-pregnancy) welcome in both classes.

Lastly, tell me/email me to let me know all about your Christmas and New Year, what bargains you got in the sales etc (send/show me photos of everything).
