Health & Lifestyle
Apart from a aiming for a healthy, well balanced diet, drinking plenty of fresh, clean water, taking adequate exercise, enjoying fresh air, being outdoors, tackling stress – sleep is also very important. Did you know that lack of sleep ages you? During non-REM phases of sleep, the pituitary gland releases HGH (human growth hormone) to enable the body to recover, repair and anti age. That’s why sleep deprivation shows up quickly on the face in the form of bags under the eyes, wrinkly skin, lack of skin firmness and sallow complexion.
Lack of sleep also speeds up internal ageing, elevating risk of diabetes, memory loss, an unstable digestive system and obesity. So, aim for 8 hours of good quality sleep a night.
Did you know?
-that you can make a healthy chocolate moussey dessert using avocado?

1 avocado, ½ ripe banana – both peeled, chopped up, ½ cup almond milk, 1/8 cup cocoa powder, 1 tbsp honey/agave syrup, ½ tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp almond butter, pinch of ground cinnamon to taste, pinch of Himalayan salt (optional) – blend ingredients till smooth and serve chilled and enjoy.
(from Anjali Shah’s blog)
-that new research from King’s College, London has identified a link between smoking and ageing of the brain – a great reason to encourage those who smoke to ditch cigarettes for good.
