Did you know that…
the weather’s picking up again – woo hoo, bring on the sunshine. I thought we were going back to winter (I had my ‘big coat’ on one day last week). Great for the bank holiday weekend and I think this week’s to be good as well. So even if you want to get out and about and enjoy the sunshine by going for a walk or doing some gardening, please remember to come to our classes and keep yourself fit and active that way too.

There seems to be lots of 10, 20 or even up to 50% off sales on at the moment – probably coz of the bank holiday and pre actual ‘summer sales’ to get people buying. I love a bargain (to be honest, sometimes more than one at a time so this last week, I’ve got myself 2 or 3 new tops, new sandals and a wee creamy summer cardi to go to/from the airport and can’t wait for my holidays now. I think it really does you good to plan, to research new places to go, to have a few new things in your summer wardrobe and to look forward to holidays, have some time off, recharge, refresh and renew.
There are 4 whole weeks of classes incl this week plus a half week (ie we finish up on Wed 29 June – oh no – my penultimate next significant big birthday, what a thought!! so I’ll be playing this one down this year).
There are 4 and a bit weeks to get our summer-bodies fit and ready so again, join us for as many classes as you can. If you’re looking to get in shape, in trim, possibly lose a pound or two so you can get into your summer outfits and beach wear (I usually say ‘bikinis’ but that’s not pc now as there are a few guys who come to our classes and they might be offended or …. possibly not!!?) anyway… then join in our fat burning kettlebell/resistance band class on a Wed am and/or improve your fitness, strength and flexibility in our Freestyle Fitness Yoga classes (Thurs 6.35pm & Fri 9.30am) and our Fitness Pilates classes (Tue + Thurs 7.30pm).
Join us, work out and get results.

I love to enjoy myself on holiday – eat well, have treats (who doesn’t when you’re on holiday?), relax and soak up the sunshine. I won’t be doing any ‘workouts’ on holiday but will make sure that I still exceed my 10,000 steps a day while walking around. Then on our return to classes on Tue 14 July, I hope that you’ll join me in our official 6 weeks of summer fitness classes. I’ll remind you of dates etc nearer the time as it seems like weeks away for now.

Exercise can help you de-stress and can protect against type 2 diabetes and heart disease. It can improve the flow of oxygen rich blood round your body. A review of 18 different studies found that people aged 55-80 who did regular exercise, performed 4 times better on cognitive tests than couch potatoes – all good news.

Something to think about:
Oh, we’ll need to think about our fitness summer lunch soon. Everyone who takes part in our classes is always welcome to come to our June fitness lunch (there’s one at the end of the year too). I was thinking that we might try Las Iguanas in George Street (at the West End). I’ve been to the one in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow too and think it would be a great place for us with a lot of choice for everyone and it’s easy to get to as well.
I’m thinking possibly Monday 27 June as a Monday might be quieter than say a Friday. If the majority would prefer a Friday though, for me, it would have to be 24/6 but we’d still have our class in the morning, home, showered, changed and out again so that might be a bit of a rush?? Let me know if you’d like to join us for our lunch and if you’d like to go to Las Iguanas.

Class costs: £5 each / £29 for each 6 week block of Tue or Thurs Fitness Pilates classes (guarantees place + saves time) / £8 for both Thursday Yoga/Pilates classes /£45 for ALL classes in a month.
