Hi, welcome to Complementary Fitness classes
Get fit with us in our varied, all-level classes

Did you know that…
I love our varied mixed classes, love when ‘regulars’ keep coming and continue to work out with us.
I love when people return to us if they’ve been off or away for a while (yeah – “welcome back”) and also love welcoming new people to our classes too. So continue on your fitness quest with us, keep yourself fit and active and please encourage your friends and colleagues, husbands, partners etc to join us too.

We’ve been doing resistance and core combat in our Wednesday 9.30am classes for a while now and it’s time to change and mix it up: from this week, it’ll be a kettlebell (or hand weights) and resistance band class.
Please bring your kettlebell if you have one/weights and a resistance band to tone and build muscle.
BTW you don’t have to work with them, just do the same exercises without.
kettlebell and weights
As you know, there are always options to suit everyone but let’s continue to work out and have fun too.
The other classes remain the same (Pilates/Yoga).

Something to think about:
You know how I’m a big fan of Real Foods and also of juices and smoothies? Well I thought you’d be interested in this article on Real Foods’ website giving a recipe for a juice and also info on what ingredients to add to your smoothies and shakes. It gives you info on various ingredients and why they’re good for you. Let me know how you get on and what your favourites are. Here’s the link (you might need to copy and paste to your browser):

Last week, I listed some of my favourite ingredients that we use all the time and thought that I’d give you some more that you probably use too.
So, here we go:
Cacao (which is chocolate in it’s most natural form, packed with antioxidants and vitamins),
Coconut oil (I use raw organic and it has potent antibacterial, anatifungal and antimicrobial properties.
It has the richest natural source of lauric acid which boosts immunity. I also love putting a teaspoonful of coconut oil into a black coffee too – try it)
Blueberries (full if antioxidants, fibre, vitamin C. It’s said they have cancer-fighting compounds and are good for your heart, help improve eyesight and memory – I must remember to keep buying them!)
Goji berries (I often add these to smoothies and chia puddings – they contain more beta-carotene than any other plant and also contain iron),
Avocado (full of antioxidants, high in healthy fats, fibre, potassium, vitamin E and magnesium.
I love making guacamole with 1 avocado, a stick of celery, a couple of tomatoes, some fresh lemon juice and fresh coriander. I’ve started substituting celery instead of raw onion as I find onion quite strong some times.
Anyway, back to the list..
Beetroot (I love, love, love beetroot, especially raw beetroot. It’s known to lower blood pressure and supports heart health. It’s full of vitamins and minerals, packed with antioxidants also great in a pre-exercise juice as the nitrates found in beetroot can increase stamina.
Spirulina (contains 60-70% protein, is loaded with iron, calcium and vitamins, is great for healthy skin and supports the nervous system.
You can add ¼ -½ tsp spirulina into smoothies – I find that when I add spirulina to a smoothie, that it gives me more energy.

What are your favourite ingredients? what your favourite recipes using your faves?
