Complementary Fitness videos
I hope you liked (aka tried out and worked out along with me!!) the videos I posted last week in the Newsletter and on the News page of my website. I thought I’d post some more for you to try out. Let me know what you think. Click on the youtube icon or link to watch.

Did you know that
I’ve recently found this website of a company in East Lothian that sells goji berries, chia seeds, protein powders and lots of other products. I placed an order which included some coconut milk powder. There are instructions (on the website and the bag) to make your own coconut milk and you blend 50g of powder to 300ml of water. I’ve been doubling the amounts (100g to 600ml) and have been making shakes and smoothies in the morning with the coconut milk and using it to make chia puddings too. I have to say that the coconut milk is soooo much tastier than the shop bought coconut milk – by far and it’s so easy to mix together. I thought I’d post you a photo of the milk and one of a chia pudding that I made.

How I made the chia pud: I put some coconut milk in a glass bowl, added 2 tablespoonfuls of whole chia seeds, some goji berries, a teaspoonful of bee pollen, some organic, natural dried cranberries (which I also bought from the website) and some fresh blueberries. I mixed it all through and let the seeds absorb all the liquid – about ½ an hour and it was set and ready to enjoy.

Something to think about:
This is week 1 of our new 6 week Fitness Pilates courses starting on Tuesday 17 Feb in Craiglockhart Parish Church Hall and on Thursdays from 19 February in Dreghorn Loan Church Hall, Dreghorn Loan, Colinton. I hope that you’ll book your place in these classes. A block of 6 classes costs £30 payable this week on the night – this is a good way to commit to fitness, to reach your fitness goals sooner and it saves you time not having to pay for each individual class each time.
If you find it difficult to commit to each 6 weeks though, you can still PAYG.
Superman Stretch
If you can join us on a Wednesday and/or Friday at 9.30am in Dreghorn Loan Hall, our classes will help you to get fit too. They’re drop-in classes, no need to book, just turn up with your mat and some water and bring your enthusiasm and work out with us.

We’ve got new music mixes this week too – nice for a change. Remember that you don’t have to ‘stick to the beat’ when exercising. Just go at your own pace, do your best.

By the way, don’t think that because it’s called “Insanity” that you have to be super fit, an athlete, or a young person. The class is for everyone (16+ and except pregnancy).
Nicola demonstrates modifications/easier options which a lot of us take. You do what you can and there are water breaks too! Yeeess!

Insanity class is on Thursdays 6.30pm in Dreghorn Loan Hall. It’s a high intensity interval training class and it’s on for 45 minutes. Bring a mat and some water, wear trainers and prepare to work as hard as you can.
The class is only £4 and it’ll really fire up your metabolism and get you in shape, fitter and stronger.
