HEALTH and LIFESTYLE
Did you know that…
It’s the last few days of November and only this week and 2 more weeks of all classes.
We finish up on Fri 16 Dec so make sure that you attend as many classes as you can to get fit for the festive season.
So if you normally come to our Tuesday Fitness Pilates class in Craiglockhart, we finish up on Tue 13 Dec and start back on 10 Jan.
Our Dreghorn Loan Hall, Colinton classes are on till Wed 14, Thurs 15 & Fri 16 December and we start back the week of 11, 12 & 13 January – please put the dates in your diary and schedule in your classes and workouts now.
At the end-of-year term, we enjoy some ‘Pilates by Candlelight’ classes in Craiglockhart and Dreghorn Loan Hall and I’m looking forward to those on the last 2 Tuesdays & Thursdays which will be Tue 6 + 13th and Thurs 8 + 15 Dec. Please bring your tea lights and holders with you on those evenings (and a lighter if you have one too – to save time).
As you know, our 6.35pm Fitness Yoga class on a Thursday is a shorter 50 minute class and we can also incorporate candles at the end of these classes on 8 + 15 Dec too – as above, bring your candles, holders etc.
Let’s get some lovely candle light glow and incorporate it with some stretching, breathing and relaxing.
How does 15/20 mins of this at the end of your classes sound?
Remember also to bring a sweatshirt or even a big scarf/shawl to cozy and warm.
Just to let you know that I’ve provisionally booked our Fitness lunch at Las Iguanas, 141 George Street on Monday 12 December at 1pm. It’s only a provisional booking as the restaurant require a £5 deposit per person and although there are 9 of us so far who’ve put their names down, hopefully, more will book up this week.
So could you please bring your £5 deposit this week if you’d like to join us for lunch on that 12 Dec.
If you’ve still to look at your diary/would like to add your name to the lunch list, please let me know this week and also bring your £5 too. Only 2 weeks on Monday and I’m looking forward to it.
You can make your own DIY immune boosting shots by putting ½ cup fresh orange juice (high in Vit C), 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (improves digestion and immunity), ¼ cup of water, ½ an inch of fresh ginger, peeled & grated (helps sore throats), a big pinch of turmeric (anti-inflammatory and antiviral), 2T manuka or other good honey (antibacterial) and ¼ tsp lime juice and whisk all the ingredients together and pour into 6 shot glasses.
You can add a pinch of cayenne (increases blood flow and speeds up healing when sick) on top if you like for an extra kick. Cheers –
(recipe from glow by popsugar)
If you add black pepper to turmeric or turmeric-spiced food, it enhances curcumin’s (the active component in turmeric) bioavailability by 1000 times, due to black pepper’s hot property called piperine.
