15-21 May is also Dementia Awareness Week. I’m sure that there will be lots of press, radio and tv coverage this week about how it can affect sufferers and families.

that you can make your own toothpaste? I haven’t made it myself…yet … but you might like to try this homemade ‘recipe’ yourself: Mix 1T coconut oil, 1T bicarb of soda and 1T xylitol together in a small bowl, add in 4 drops peppermint essential oil and mix. Keep the mixture in a cool place (or the oil will melt). Add a pea sized amount on your toothbrush – let me know how you get on. Do you make any of your own cosmetics ie face scrubs etc?
I have a book (from Neal’s Yard) but haven’t made any yet although one of these days, possibly when/if I retire and I have some time to do these things, I’ll get round to it then. At the moment however, I do buy products that are natural, free from additives or chemicals and I love Jason products and Faith In Nature.

Oh and did you know that you can also make your own house cleaning products too using every day things like olive oil, bicarb of soda, white vinegar and lemon juice. There are books out there but you can also search online.

Something to think about:
Stay hydrated in the warmer weather, drink plenty of water and remember to bring water with you to classes and sip regularly. Sometimes for a change, I like to add a dash of fresh lemon or lime juice to plain water or a couple of slices of cucumber is also lovely and refreshing. You can also add a few mint leaves or a sprig of rosemary from the garden.

Poor posture and stress can lead to shallow breathing so sit up straight and adjust and release any tension from your neck and shoulders. As we do in classes, think about your breathing and occasionally throughout the day, try and ensure that your breathing is relaxed and you could do a few shoulder circles and stretch out your neck by taking your ear down towards your shoulder for a 10-20 seconds and change to stretch out the other side too.

Our classes are running until Wed 29 June and we’ll have a short break and resume on Tue 12 July again.
