I can’t wait to work out with you in this, our penultimate week of classes.
Apart from our Wednesday & Friday 9.30am classes, here’s a reminder that this Tue 7 & Thurs 9 is our Fitness Pilates/Yoga by Candlelight classes in Craiglockhart Church hall & Dreghorn Loan Hall (DLH) and if you want to join us, I’d suggest definitely booking your place asap.
If you can get one, please bring battery-operated tea lights/candles making them really easy to switch on and light up.
Although wax candles are lovely and very atmospheric, battery ones save any wax being spilt on the floor too.
During the 20 min or so relaxation part of these classes, have a warm top or jacket handy to put on and keep yourself relaxed and cozy.
There’ll be another chance to do candlelight classes next Tuesday 14 & Thursday 16 Dec as well, giving us time to de-stress, re-connect, re-charge and re-lax (aka relax).
As I previously mentioned, we finish up next week on Fri 17 Dec so join us in as many classes as you can this week and next.
We’ll then be ‘off’ for 2 weeks and re-start on Tue 4 Jan again.
So in the meantime, “keeeeep active, fit, strong, positive & flexible” as they (don’t) say on that amazing fantastic weekend dance show we all love so much.

Bryce (Tue fitness Pilates class) went to Christmas at the Botanics and recorded a really great video and he sent me the link and allowed me to share it with you here:
His videos are always very informative and professional and I’m sure you’ll love this one.
Bryce also says that this event ties in with our candlelight evenings which is kind of him to say although our candlelight classes are a mixture of exercise, fitness, strength, flexibility and relaxation, the event at the Botanics looks very festive, great for all the family, lots of fun and amazing. * In the festive theme, Lorraine (Fri fitness yoga class) mentioned that in the run up to Christmas, Colinton Parish Church are inviting people to make, draw, knit, paint, crochet or sew an angel, and display it on your window, fence, gatepost or school railings. They are Lighting up Colinton and the surrounding areas with angels to reconnect us all with the word of love and joy this Christmas.

One of my Instagram (IG) posts last week (scroll down/see below) was a photo of avocados and in the message/description about it, I said:
Avocados have become one of those superfoods that we all buy every week now.
We can even buy these fruits bagged and frozen too.
They’re very nutritious and contain:
heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, fibre, potassium and other minerals as well as vitamins inc vitamin K.
Avocados are so versatile and can add texture and creaminess.
Everyone (inc me) loves smashed avo on toast but I also love making a chocolate avo mousse (I’ve shared the recipe for this before but basically, it’s mashed avo, mashed banana, 1T cacao powder and some non dairy milk to loosen. Add berries through it or on top or sprinkle cacao nibs on the top. Happy days.
But, we often make guacamole too and at the weekend, I decided to make peacamole which as you might guess is guac with the addition of green peas (for protein and texture).
Here’s how I made it: in a bowl, I mashed a ripe avocado, added in a finely chopped tomato, some defrosted green peas, some fresh herbs and 1T tahini.
I’d not added tahini to guac before but thought ….hmm… why not?, let’s try it and it made it really creamy and delish (also adds calcium). Obvs added in salt & pepper and you can add chopped fresh chilli in too.
Sometimes, we also make … dah dah dah ….. broccomole with left-over cooked broccoli, mmmm & yum.
Adding in peas or broccoli ups your veg intake and makes the dish ‘go further’ too.
Friday’s IG post was to remind everyone to stay hydrated because:
Water is essential for life. Every cell in our body needs water to function properly.
And even though our bodies are all different shapes, sizes, height etc, water makes up over half of our body weight so you can see it’s essential for good health.
We need water to flush out toxins and to keep us from being constipated.
Another fact is that not drinking enough water: can lead to dehydration, which can cause confusion, reduce our performance and affect our memory.
So, remember to drink enough water to stay hydrated, sharp and focussed.
During an exercise class or a run, especially if it’s intense or the room is warm, bring water and sip it when you need to and ensure you drink water after your exercise session too.
If you don’t like plain water, add in a few squeezes of fresh orange, lemon or lime juice for flavour, freshness and sharpness.

Please also ensure that you return your completed Booking Checklist to me electronically if you’re attending indoor classes.
