Newsletter 26 NOVEMBER 2018
I can’t wait to welcome you and work out with you in our Fitness Pilates, Fitness Yoga & core resistance classes in Dreghorn Loan Hall, Colinton + Craiglockhart church hall, Edinburgh and all our class details and times are on the Classes page of my website.
This week’s news and info:
I made a lovely chocolate beetroot smoothie the other morning for breakfast and thought I’d share how I made it with you:
In a nutribullet beaker (any blender will do), I blended:
½ a ripe avocado, a handful of freeze dried beetroot (or use a small raw or cooked beetroot),
2 fresh pitted medjool dates, 4 or 5 prunes, a few frozen cherries (you can add blackberries or blackberries or fresh), 1-2T cacao powder, 1T chia seeds (to thicken and add more protein and omega-3 fats)
and added 1½ cups almond milk.
When blended, I poured it into a lovely glass and topped with (pre-soaked and rinsed) walnuts and freeze dried raspberries and it was filling and delicious.
I buy a lot of products incl nut butters, freeze dried fruit & veg, nuts etc from:
realfoodsource.com who are based in Musselburgh.
Our Fitness Pilates/Fitness Yoga by Candlelight classes are on next week and the following week: Tue 4 + 11 and Thurs 6 and 13 December. Bring your own tea lights and candle holders and after 40 minutes of warm up, stretch and exercise, we light our tea lights. We’ll put our warm cozy tops back on and stretch and focus on our breathing and relaxation for the last 20 minutes of the class. I can’t wait.
End-of-term celebration and get-together:
I’m still waiting to hear from The Swing Café, Colinton Parish Church to find out if they can put aside a table for 20-25 of us for coffee and cake on Wednesday 12 Dec from around 10.45am. I’ve asked but the person to give the ‘ok’ is on holiday so I won’t find out till next week. When I hear, I’ll let you know asap but I’m sure that if we were to pop down after the class that day, they’d accommodate us. Our numbers won’t impacting on lunches in the cafe when they’ll be busy.
I look forward to coffee, tea, cake with you and to celebrate your fitness achievements and have a chat and catch up.
We still have a class on Thurs 13 + Fri 14 December.
We’re then off for 3 weeks (everyone is too busy to come to classes during the festive season) the we start back on Tue 8 January.
I love reading some of Kris Carr’s blogs (she’s a cancer survivor, presenter and author) and have 1 of her healthy cook books. You might be interested in a recent blog about cultivating a happier life and she discloses some of her ‘secrets’ to help. copy and paste into your browser to read:
You’ll see that her https://kriscarr.com/recipes/ page also has lots of healthy plant-based mouthwatering recipes and you may like to try a few of the recipes for yourself or for any veggie/vegan guests over Christmas.
Quotes that I read and like:
‘When you can’t control what’s happening, control the way you respond to what’s happening – that’s where the power is’
‘Sometimes, the best thing you can do is not think, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess. Just breathe and have faith that everything will work out for the best’.
‘Don’t think about what can happen in a month. Don’t think about what can happen in a year. Just focus on the 24 hours in front of you and do what you can to get closer to where you want to be’. and
‘dancing is like taking a mini vacation from the stress of the everyday – you have to be in the moment’.
I definitely love ‘dancing about’ as you know (if you’ve been to any of my Wednesday morning classes where we sometimes do ‘a bit of salsa’ just for 1 track in the workout mix) and it definitely makes me feel happier, less stressed and I hope you feel the same.
I look forward to seeing you and working out with you this week in Dreghorn Loan Hall and Craiglockhart Church Hall so that we can continue to improve on our fitness levels, strength, posture balance and flexibility together.
