Did you know that
Ok so this week’s newsletter is more about lifestyle or things that you may be interested in but which I hope you’ll enjoy but I’ve also done another short yoga sequence video and hope you like it.
Join us in our classes above for more fitness, strength, flexibility and fun.
Here’s the link to the video:

We did have a lovely long walk last weekend along Union Canal (in all weathers but had waterproofs on!).
I love Autumn, it’s such a great transitional time of year and it was lovely to see the autumn colours, hedgerows and berries.

Research shows that spending at least 2 consecutive hours in a green space every month can boost your immune system and improve your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. As I keep saying, we’re lucky to have the Pentland Hills nearby and Union Canal & Colinton Dell too and when we breath oxygen-rich air, it’s thought to help promote a healthy respiratory and circulatory system.

It takes us about an hour to walk from our house to Fountainpark then we walked further for a well-earned (that’s my excuse) healthy brunch at Ransacked Black Oven, 27-29 Marshall Street. Oh… you’d love it too and the food is amazing and we’ve been a few times. I took a photo of the menu on the blackboard, yum

You can tell that I love food and love wee treats now and then too (well…. often tbh).
Talking of which: I kind of ‘made up’ this recipe in my nutribullet as I had a sliced large banana in the freezer and wanted to use a ripe banana so I cut up the mango and added that to the banana (you could use fresh or frozen banana + mango tho) and a tiny drop of almond milk and blitzed together. I probably added too much milk but it was still delicious. I poured out the mix into a bowl and topped with some gf muesli and a halved dark choc topped corn cake (first time I’d bought them but thought a good idea when you just want a bit of choc).
Result: delish.

Last weekend, we went for dinner to Vesta Restaurant & Bar which is at 7 Queensferry Street.
It’s is for open for lunch, dinner and drinks and their menu is bursting with beautiful, healthy vegan and vegetarian plates, comfort classics from steaks and indulgent burgers etc. Vesta also exists for a social mission, run along the same ethos as their partners Social Bite, a social enterprise aiming to end homelessness in Scotland.
Their website says that they hope their feel good food leads to feel good actions and that their customers pay forward meals for vulnerable people, be it a coffee, lunch or dinner.
We both really enjoyed the delicious food, presentation and friendly and helpful staff.
We’d definitely go back as the food is sooo good, tasty and healthy too.
It’s handy if you’re in west end of town and we love the idea that their enterprise helps Scotland’s homelessness too.

Talking of homelessness, did you know that are celebrating 25 years of Edinburgh Sleep Out and for one night, on 26 October, you can swap your bed for a sleeping bag and support their work.

Also: Social Bite’s Sleep in the Park is a mass sleepout with a view to ending homelessness in Scotland. The event is on 8 Dec in 4 cities incl Princes St Gardens, Edinburgh.
There will be some special performances from Lulu, Amy Macdonald, KT Tunstall and a ‘bedtime story’ by Irvine Welsh. There are no tickets for the event but you’re asked to make a minimum fundraising commitment of £100 which will make an impact.
If you want to register: go to Wrap up warm and take a warm sleeping bag etc.

I saw this poster on a George St church’s noticeboard recently and thought I’d take a photo of it and share what it said with you:
People are often unreasonable, irrational and self-centred – forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives – be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies – succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you – be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight – create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous – be happy anyway.
The good you do today will often be forgotten – do good anyway.
Give the best you have and it will never be enough – give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God – it was never between you and them anyway.

There’s an event on tonight (24/9) in Vogrie Country Park with dazzling light installations, blazing fire performances and jaw-dropping flame throwers and woodland creatures of all shapes and sizes will appear throughout the walk.
This event is an interactive evening walk in the woods, which shall last around an hour and includes a kids workshops, live entertainment and interactive installations and there’ll be food and drink vendors on site. Details and tickets:

Please let me know how you’re getting on in our classes and what improvements you feel you’ve made in your fitness, diet and general lifestyle, thanks – I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon.

I look forward to seeing you and working out with you this week in Dreghorn Loan Hall and Craiglockhart Church Hall so that we can continue to improve on our fitness levels, strength, posture balance and flexibility together.

Take care, SUSAN
