As you know, our 2021 classes finished up last week and I want to thank you so much for joining me and working out with us in all of this year’s classes, whether they’ve been at Paties Road Rec Grounds, Thistle Padel Court, DLH, Craiglockhart Church or even live on Zoom/recorded online.

Classes would not be the same without you and I am so thankful and grateful for your continued loyalty and support especially in this, our 30th year of fitness classes

A massive THANK YOU to you.

Thanks also to those who joined us this year and I really hope that you’ll join us again in the new year.

I’ll keep this newsletter short(ish) and sweet but just wanted to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas.

Enjoy seeing family and friends.  Have a break, have a rest and come back rejuvenated, refreshed and renewed for our classes from 4 Jan onwards and remember to book your place in the first of our 2022 classes.  Of course, we’ll keep an eye on any news/announcements over the next few weeks too.

If you’re looking to try different recipes over the holidays, there are lots here:

All Minimalist Baker Recipes

A recent clinical trial published in the Journal of Nutrition, reveals that consuming the recommended amounts of vegetables may improve bone health and support bone-related health outcomes.  An option for lunch or as a starter: have one big plate piled up with colourful veggies and maybe a dip (ok we all like houmous but I’m thinking beetroot houmous which is delicious and also colourful or guacamole and remember I mentioned peacamole or broccomole recently too).  “Other dips are available” as they say!  Or opt for loading up half your plate with raw and cooked veggies and start from there ie adding in some protein and healthy fats, nuts and seeds.

I love adding a good EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) over boiled potatoes but as an alternative, I love drizzling over a lemony tahini dressing (literally just fresh lemon juice, tahini, salt and 1-2T water depending how thick you want the dressing).

Oh and I bet you’ll never guess what else might help improve bone density/health:

yep it’s EXERCISE and moving around, yayyy.

Remember that there are short Core Challenge videos on my Youtube channel if you want to do one or a few of those with me.

Depending on news/Scottish Government guidance over the next few weeks, it may still be a good idea to do a lateral flow test (LFT) before attending a class in the new year to keep us all safe – if we can get LFT kits (they’re getting scarce but I’m hoping that stocks will improve again).

I mentioned that we can get LFT kits at pharmacies but I’ve been told that Oxgangs Library have them (I guess that other libraries will too?) and the Covid centre at Napier on Glenlockhart Road and they can be picked up at Gate 55, Wester Hailes & other places.
