5 ways to keep our bodies and brains healthy:

  1. Nourish your body with a balanced diet – helps nourish with necessary nutrients so that we function properly so eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, lean protein and healthy fats. These nutrients also help support brain health.

  1. Move your body every day. Physical exercise increases blood flow around the body and to the brain which helps support cognitive function and improve mood.

  1. Getting plenty of good quality sleep is essential for overall health and wellbeing so stick to a sleep schedule and limit screen time for at least an hour before bed, visit this website for natural herbs to help of you quality of sleep.

  1. Stay social and connect with others because it can have a great impact on our wellbeing and brain function. Socialising with others can also improve our mood, reduce stress and increase self esteem.

  1. Keep mentally active by doing puzzles, learning new skills and reading.

A couple of other simple ways to help keep us healthy, balanced and relaxed are:

  • Get into a regular relaxed and focussed breathing practice to help feel calm and centred.
  • Meditation – join a group or find an app (eg Calm/Headspace) – even 5 or 10 minutes a day can help with focus, improved relaxation and reduction of stress and anxiety.

As it’s Easter weekend and I know you’ll be spending time with family and friends, I thought I’d make this a short newsletter.

Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing you in all of our classes this week.
