Hi and welcome to this week’s Complementary Fitness news

In one of my Instagram posts this week, there was a photo of resistance bands and the post gave a description of various band types (ie hooped, long stretchy elastic length which can be tied or the one we use on a Wednesday morning is a rounded length of elastic with handles on the ends) and why they’re beneficial to use in our workouts.

When we pull on a resistance band, you can ...

Complementary Fitness 26 July Newsletter

Hi and welcome this this week’s newsletter.

I enjoyed all of our sunny outdoor classes last week and I loved the glorious weather we had all last week & particularly last Tuesday & Thursday evenings for our outdoor 6.15pm classes.

There was not a cloud in the sky on Tue and hardly any on Thurs evening, just perfect.

Of course, I/we still think that Thistle Padel Court is also just perfect for our Wed & Fri morning classes too.

It’s nice and cool while ...

Welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Starting off with more apologies, oops sorry about that!:

This time for having to cancel last Wednesday, Thursday & Friday classes and not because of the weather, but because I was unwell.

I hate cancelling and letting people down but I just couldn’t have made it on Wednesday & spent all day in bed.

Hopefully you got the separate emails cancelling each class & I also had a class cancellation notice on the Classes page of my website.  Apologies ...

Complementary Fitness 12 July newsletter

First of all, apologies for having to cancel last Tuesday’s class because of all the rain.

We’d had such a lot of rain as you know and it would’ve been miserable.

Here’s another reminder that this week’s Wednesday & Friday morning classes start at 9am start on Wed 14 July, Fri 16 July then we’re ‘back to normal at 10am’.

That is until the week of Wed 11 Aug & Fri 13 August when again, it’s a 9am start – ah the school ...

A reminder that this week’s Wednesday & Friday morning classes are back to the usual start time of 10am but please put the following dates in your diary etc for another 2 separate weeks of 9am start on Wed 14 July, Fri 16 July (next week) and Wed 11 Aug & Fri 13 August.  I’ll remind you nearer the time though.

What does it mean to have a strong core and what are the muscles involved?

Working towards and having strong core ...

We’re now into the school holidays but just to let you know that we’re not taking a break and that ALL CLASSES ARE STILL ON.

The news for this week’s Wednesday & Friday morning classes, now that we’re into the school holidays, is that they’re at 9am on Wed 30 June & Fri 2 July.

Sorry I forgot to mention that during or at the end of classes last week.

I hope the earlier start is ok for you.  Please set a reminder, ...

Complementary Fitness 21 June Newsletter

Hi and thanks for joining us today in this week’s fitness newsletter.

Today, 21 June is midsummer, solstice, the longest day of the year, enjoy every minute of it.

In one of my Insta posts last week, there was a photo of a group of people exercising outdoors doing yoga and the photo could’ve very easily been of us doing the same pose which was a warrior pose.  They had their right leg forward in a wide lunge with that leg bent ...

Complementary Fitness News 14 June

We all know what we feel like in the morning when we have or haven’t had a good night’s sleep.

If our sleep has been disturbed, we feel groggy & really tired when we know we have to get up in the morning to face the day.

Maybe we’ve gone to bed too late, maybe we’ve watched the news or a fast-paced all-action thriller on tv just before going to bed and instead of feeling relaxed, our mind is racing and we ...

Complementary Fitness 7 June newsletter

I loved all of our outdoor classes last week and we were really lucky with the lovely sunny (or just dry) weather for our four classes.

I/we walked to/from Paties Rd Rec Grounds or Thistle Padel Court through the Dell which only takes 15 minutes.  Walking takes no more than driving and in fact, depending on traffic, a lot less time than driving up Craiglockhart or up through Colinton then find a parking space.

It’s also so much nicer on a dry/sunny ...

Complementary Fitness 31 May News

Welcome to this week’s fitness newsletter.  Please check out the Classes page for details of all of our classes & join us.

You’ll have heard that we should ‘eat a rainbow’ of colours for variety by eating different vegetables & fruits.  When thinking veg, we can opt for courgettes (maybe spirilized?), raw grated or finely sliced carrots, cubes of cooked aubergines, red, yellow, orange, & green peppers, raw grated or sliced & cooked beetroot, green leafy veg & slices of avocado ...
