* Looking forward to a new six week session. I forgot how much I enjoyed your class....such a good workout and I just love the stretching exercises.   I have lost 2 stones 2lbs in weight since Christmas and I just know the best way to tone up my flabby bits is Fitness Pilates.
You are a fabulous instructor and have a great taste in music to work out - Gillian C
(April 12)  thanx Gill

* I have only been to 2 classes but have really enjoyed what I've done so far.  I like the fact that each week was different and it's possible to join in at your own level.  I like the way you include variations of the same activity so that you can choose which provides the best challenge. - Valerie W (Feb 12)

*Thank you so much for taking the time to email me after last Thursday's class.  I really enjoyed it though I was certainly a bit stiff the following couple of days!  I haven't really done any classes before but I was amazed at how quickly time passed and felt I'd had a good workout by the end.  I'd certainly recommend your class to friends.  Many thanks - Lorna.

*  I love the class.  It's just the right pace for me as you can work as hard or as little as you want (obviously I work really hard!).  I always feel great after it so no changes for me please!  The fact that you do change it, keeps it from becoming boring like a lot of other classes.  This is the longest I've stuck at any class.  Keep up the great work (Melisa Watt Thurs 7pm)

* I really enjoy everything about the class, I can usually feel it in my legs on the Friday and Saturday which makes me feel great.  I like the standing exercises as I feel like I’m really working myself hard, but I also like to have time on the floor work too, increasing flexibility and strength on the rest of my body. I do feel that my arms are toning up which is another key thing for me too.  I don’t mind it when the classes are quite more difficult as I think that everyone feels they can go at their own pace, and if we can’t manage the more difficult exercises, we know that there are easier options for us – I think that giving options is a great thing to do!   enjoy getting the newsletters too, I find the facts in them really interestingThanks very much Susan (Lorna Campbell, Thurs 8pm)

* "Pilates...great fun class for all ages.  Improved my core strength without pain or sweat" (Douglas Walker)

* "I am still enjoying the class.  I feel there is a good balance of standing and mat work.  I like the different options so I can work at the right level for me.  I have enjoyed the recent introduction of the weights, tennis balls and gliding discs which have added a bit of variety to the class.  I like that the class is similar but not the same each week.  Booking in blocks makes me attend and even though some weeks I feel like not going, at the end of the class, I am always really glad I did go!!  Thanks" - Clare (Thurs 8pm)

* “I feel that Pilates and aerobics exercise is very important to me , Physically I have more energy and seem to be able to do more even though I'm approaching 70, so age does not matter as long as you are reasonably fit . The Pilates class concentrates a lot on breathing properly and this does seem to make you hold yourself correctly.  The aerobics class is great fun and is so good for the whole body.  With thanks again Susan for all your work in keeping us fit!””   (Mary.Walker - Wed & Fri am classes)

* I really enjoy the Pilates class, it is fun to do but you can also feel it working!  I do think I can notice my waist a bit better (my waist is more well defined), especially when we do those side exercises!  I feel generally fitter and stronger.  (J  W)

* " I have done Pilates for over a year now and it has made such a difference to me that I conquered my first Munro, Ben Macdhui, this year.  I am not alone in enjoying two classes a week (I never seem to put the same effort into a routine at home!) but honestly, you'd think after all this time I'd get my left and my right sorted out!!   I have to say I am hooked on Pilates, and enjoy Susan's classes very much.  It's a great, safe way to tone up, especially as you can go at your own pace, and I would recommend it to anyone.

I also like the newsletter, I don't always think to look at the website and it's handy to know what things are up and coming, or what other classes are already running. It also reminds us why we do it, there are definite benefits in improving confidence and reducing stress, and I personally believe Pilates has been a huge factor in reducing my blood pressure, which is no bad thing.

My husband also loves the classes, he doesn't do them, but oh, the peace and quiet when I'm out! (just kidding!!)       Keep up the good work, Susan"  - Kath Tweedie (Thurs 8pm class)

* "hugely enjoyed the class - felt really great afterwards and slept very well!!   See you next week" - Mandy Mathieson (Thurs 8pm class)

* "Since joining your class, I am more conscious of my posture.  I swim and walk differently..my tummy muscles are pulled in and my buttocks feel tighter.  I am also aware that when I am standing at the kitchen sink, I pull my tummy muscles in which means that I am not slouching the way I used to.  Thanks for making these improvements to my lifestyle"  - Joyce Reid, (Thursday 7pm class)

* "Your classes certainly are appreciated.  They do discipline me to do the exercises that I know i should do more frequently.  I do enjoy them even if my limbs get a bit mixed up at times"!  (Bryce - Tue class)

Morning classes..

Cardio Aerobic Workout

1) “A fun and active class which has given me a lot more stamina and helps me sleep better” (Kay Ferguson)

2) The tutor, Susan Cockburn, is totally committed to the benefits of low impact aerobics and body conditioning workouts.  She is also fully aware of the needs of her clients and her teaching material reflects this.   The class work is well balanced, effective, safe and inspirational. (J R)

Resistance Band/Hand Held Weights Workout

1) "Wed am class - this "Pilates type" class is a happy, friendly class which I really feel the benefit of each week.  The body is worked really hard and I come away feeling that all my limbs and joints are looser with the stretching and my body is "charged" with energy, after which, I walk my dog for an hour!                              Using the resistance bands and weights are challenging and fun and one knows oneself how hard one should work!  Susan is an inspiring and very able instructor.  I really enjoy this class and hate to miss it"  (Ursula)

Metabolic Fat Burning and Strength Training Workout  / Fitness Bootcamp Workout

1) I have enjoyed both the summer classes at Craiglockhart and the first one back at Dreghorn while being conscious of the fact that our sessions are getting harder.  I quite take your point that they must be so to improve our fitness levels and I also like the "change of style" from time to time.

In general, I feel the benefit of all your classes and feel, touch wood, a blessed absence of arthritis in my joints, which plagues so many people as they get older.  This, in turn, allows me to walk distances and have lots of energy.  You know you, yourself, are a great advert for your fitness regime! (Ursula)

2) I certainly feel I worked harder at the Wednesday and Friday classes this week and do appreciate the need to "up" the rate of exercise.  As long as you are happy to let us work as hard as we feel able, that is what I am looking for.  Obviously, there are certain movements which i don't feel too comfortable doing so I hold back slightly but hopefully over the weeks, I will be able to build up my fitness levels.  We all need to get out of our "comfort zone" and tackle more demanding exercises in our effort to stay fit and healthy without causing discomfort.  (Eleanor Y)

3) I liked the Wednesday session and can confirm that my metabolism really did speed up and actually remained higher than usual for an hour or so afterwards which was a nice thought while I was having a cup of tea (and toast)  after the class.  Before the summer I had started jogging 3 or so times a week and your new-style class is,  for me, a good alternative to a jogging session.  In fact, it's especially good as it works  the whole body.  Harder work than the usual class perhaps but great fun.  Thanks! (Yvonne C)

4) I really enjoyed it (Metabolic Fat Burning & Strength Training workout) and would say that it was probably my favourite so far, especially as it worked all the right parts!  I am suffering the after effects of not having been to a class for over 2 months (and being lazy during the school holidays), but no pain, no gain! (Suzanne)
