Fitness Pilates

1) "Pilates...great fun class for all ages.  Improved my core strength without pain or sweat" (Douglas Walker)

2) "Since starting Susan's Pilates class last September, I have rediscovered abdominal muscles long cocooned in layers of fat! Generally, I feel more toned and know how to breathe properly in exercise which helps me in the gym and all types of exertion.   I am more flexible and as a sciatica sufferer, feel my lower back is much stronger and I definitely experience less discomfort in that area.     I have attended other exercise classes but I feel Susan is a first class coach.  She never asks us to attempt anything new without first showing how to do it properly and she allows us to progress through the various levels of Pilates at our own pace.     The class is always fun and afterwards, I am left feeling remarkably de-stressed." (Gillian Cornelius) (attends Thurs 8pm class)

3) “I feel that Pilates and aerobics exercise is very important to me , Physically I have more energy and seem to be able to do more even though I'm approaching 70, so age does not matter as long as you are reasonably fit . The Pilates class concentrates a lot on breathing properly and this does seem to make you hold yourself correctly.  The aerobics class is great fun and is so good for the whole body.  With thanks again Susan for all your work in keeping us fit!””   (Mary.Walker - Wed & Fri am classes)

4) I really enjoy the Pilates class, it is fun to do but you can also feel it working!  I do think I can notice my waist a bit better (my waist is more well defined), especially when we do those side exercises!  I feel generally fitter and stronger.  (J  W)

5) "Since I turned 40, I have had a problem with sciatica.  When the opportunity to attend a Pilates class at lunchtime at work came up, I jumped at the chance, as I knew that it was very good for strengthening the core muscles and would possibly ease the problem with my back.          I am delighted at the progress I have made.  Although mastering the techniques involved, took a bit of time, I now look forward to my lunchtime session every week and my sciatica only bothers me occasionally.  When it did flare up, Susan recommended specific exercises for me and they have helped immensely and only take a few minutes to do.         Apart from my back problems, the Pilates class benefits me on so many other levels.  It relaxes me and is great for alleviating stress.  It helps me sleep more soundly and I am amazed at the difference in my shape as a whole. My muscles are stronger, my balance is better and my posture is improved.                          I can't recommend it more highly enough"  (Louise Hall - Wed class)

6) " I have done Pilates for over a year now and it has made such a difference to me that I conquered my first Munro, Ben Macdhui, this year.  I am not alone in enjoying two classes a week (I never seem to put the same effort into a routine at home!) but honestly, you'd think after all this time I'd get my left and my right sorted out!!   I have to say I am hooked on Pilates, and enjoy Susan's classes very much.  It's a great, safe way to tone up, especially as you can go at your own pace, and I would recommend it to anyone.

I also like the newsletter, I don't always think to look at the website and it's handy to know what things are up and coming, or what other classes are already running. It also reminds us why we do it, there are definite benefits in improving confidence and reducing stress, and I personally believe Pilates has been a huge factor in reducing my blood pressure, which is no bad thing.

My husband also loves the classes, he doesn't do them, but oh, the peace and quiet when I'm out! (just kidding!!)       Keep up the good work, Susan"  - Kath Tweedie (Thurs 8pm class)

7) "hugely enjoyed the class - felt really great afterwards and slept very well!!   See you next week" - Mandy Mathieson (Thurs 8pm class)

8) "Since joining your class, I am more conscious of my posture.  I swim and walk differently..my tummy muscles are pulled in and my buttocks feel tighter.  I am also aware that when I am standing at the kitchen sink, I pull my tummy muscles in which means that I am not slouching the way I used to.  Thanks for making these improvements to my lifestyle"  - Joyce Reid, (Thursday 7pm class)

Resistance Band/Hand Held Weights Workout

1) "Wed am class - this "Pilates type" class is a happy, friendly class which I really feel the benefit of each week.  The body is worked really hard and I come away feeling that all my limbs and joints are looser with the stretching and my body is "charged" with energy, after which, I walk my dog for an hour!                              Using the resistance bands and weights are challenging and fun and one knows oneself how hard one should work!  Susan is an inspiring and very able instructor.  I really enjoy this class and hate to miss it"  (Ursula)
